His Royal Higness Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, who was reinstated by legislative act on Thursday as 23, 2024, as been presented his ibstrument of appointment as the 16th Emir of Kano.
The letter of appointment was presented to him by Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, at the Coronation Hall, Kano State Government House, on Friday May 24.
This development came despite an order granted by a Federal High Court sitting in Kano, stopping the reinstatement.
The order also kicked against the abolishment of four emirates: Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano, in a bill earlier passed by the state house of assembly on Thursday May 23.
It directed all parties involved to maintain status quo ante pending the determination of the suit filed by Aminu Babba-Dan’Agundi, Sarkin Dawaki Babba, on Thursday.
Justice Liman granted leave to the Plaintiff/Applicant to issue and serve their concurrent originating motion as well as all other court processes on the 6th Defendant (IGP) in FCT Abuja and outside the jurisdiction of the Honourable Court.
The defendants in the suit include the Kano State government, the Kano State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the State Assembly, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, the Inspector General of Police, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Security.
Up till the time of filing this report on Friday, it could not be confirmed if the defendants had received the court order.
