Osinbajo had earlier met with Northern and Southern opinion leaders to condemn the wave of ethnic agitations and hate speeches in the country generally believed to have been ignited by the incessant provocative and violent agitations for secession on the part of Igbo people fronted by their youths under the aegis of IPOB and MASSOB.

It is the general belief of many in North and South West of the country that the Igbo unending hate speeches and provocative statements against people of other parts of the country in the name of demanding for Biafra were clearly backed and openly supported by public office holders, political elites and traditional rulers of the Igbo race thereby rising with a counter seen in the quit notice by Arewa Youths for Igbo living in the North to quit before October 1 and some Youth groups in the South West doing similar saying they were tired of the Igbo threat, warning the Igbo living the South West.
