The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Tuesday paid a visit to the Zazzau Emirate, jointly received by the Emir, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, and the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ubah Sani.
Sultan Abubakar’s visit to the palace of Emir of Zazzau was coming five days after a portion of the 188-year-old Zaria Central Mosque collapsed on worshippers killing eight persons with several others securing injuries of varied degrees.
The DEFENDER reports that that the incident occurred during Asr prayer at about 4pm on Friday August 11, 2023.
Sultan of Sokoto, who was on transit, seized his presence in the ancient city to physically condole the Emir, whom he had immediately upon receiving the sad news last Friday comiserated with on the telephone.
The Sultan, also President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), prayed for the repose of the dead in Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus, while wishing for the quick recovery of the injured receiving treatment in the hospital.
The Sultan had since departed the Zazzau Emirate in continuation of his journey that took him from Sokoto Caliphate through Zamfara and Katsina on Monday.
