The Alara of Ilara Kingdom, Epe, Lagos State, Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo Telade IV, on Friday July 14, 2023, conferred the honourary chieftaincy title of Aare Atunluto of the kingdom on the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to Nigeria, Engr Wendell De Landro.

For the Alara, a taxation administrator and former chairman Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) and Engr De Landro, Friday’s event means a landmark in the history of Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago as it also witnessed a signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Relations between Ilara Kingdom, Epe, Lagos State, Nigeria and the The Caribbean country.

The DEFENDER reports that Ilara Kingdom is seated majestically on the Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Epe Division (IBILE) of Lagos State with the Alara, the king, as Paramount Ruler of the Kingdom and, as Head of the Division, a Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Chiefs.

Digntaries from across the diplomatic corps, Nigeria’s Yoruba traditional and business communities witnessed the all-important event where the presence of former First Lady of Lagos State, Lady Doja Otedola, who is also mother of renowned billionaire, Femi Otedola, was conspicously noticed.

The epoch-making event was significant with its uniqueness in the business history of Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division, Lagos State, Nigeria and The Republic of Trinidad and Tobago being that it was ostensibly orchestrated in effort towards community and national development of the two countries.

According to our royalty source, “The event is aimed at sealing the Partnership and the proposed progressive plan between Ilara Kingdom, Epe Division, Lagos State, Nigeria and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

“It was also noted that the two countries “Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago” have a lot of things in common.”

In his acceptance speech, the honour recipient and High-Commissioner, summarised the duties of his chieftaincy position and appreciated “His Royal Majesty Oba Olufolarin Olukayode Ogunsanwo Telade IV, the Alara of Ilara Kingdom”, and the entire people of the Kingdom for what he described as great honour.
