DSS confirms arrest of suspended CBN Gov, Godwin Emefiele
*Says now in custody

The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed arrest of Mr Godwin Emefiele, suspended Friday as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
It said he is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
The Service made this confirmation in a statement signed by Dr. Peter Afunanya and dated June 10, 2023.
It, however, cautioned about the way information and news of the arrest is carried by members of the public and the media.
“The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this,” the statement said.
The DEFENDER reports that the Emefiele’s arrest followed his suspension by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, according to a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) late Friday.
