“So, it’s just petty. Although it is better, because they have nothing else to bring out for me. They cannot say I am a former drug lord or I am drug addict or I have mental health problems. So, I have shown you guys just three.”

Governorship Candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the upcoming Governorship and House of Assembly Elections in Lagos State, Architect Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has risen to the threats in circulation in attempt to instill fear in LP members including himself and his supporters to stop them from coming out to vote for him and other Labour Party’s candidates in Saturday March 11, 2023 elections.

“Nothing is going to happen, come out and vote. You see, that last time they deceived us; all security patrols, the Chairman of INEC saying that he was going to have electronic transmission. We have seen their hand. Come out and vote, this will be a completely different experience, I assure you of that,” the Lagos LP Governorship Candidate said.

Gbadebo, full-blooded Omo Eko Pataki whose pedigree is of the Rhodes-Vivours that were one of the founding ‘Board Members’ of Lagos, also went on to lampoon purveyours of fake new news and rumours about his indigeneship of Lagos, saying “they are just petty”.

Propaganda

He speaks to the saying that he was operating non propaganda and put that off as mere indication of frustration on the part of the ruling party in the state.

“It just shows a lot of desperation for the ruling party. What propaganda? At least I have been consistent. I have always stood for the people that stand up to speak, tell the truth to power, whether it is Sunday Igbo that is standing against the incursion of herdsmen into Oyo State and standing to defend his people or even IPOB at a point, right?

“They were asking me about being part of Nigeria, even #EndSARS, I was part of that as well. Why? It is because we were demanding and holding government accountable. It does not mean because a movement starts in certain way, and I buy into it, that I buy into the entirety of it.

“I condemned the destructions that happened after soldiers shot peaceful protesters in Lagos State. I condemned the kidnapping and killings in the South East. I condemned whatever negative things that Yoruba Nation might have done. But I am in favour of Amotekun. So, I am consistent.

“You have people from Ijebu, among who is the incumbent Governor (Sanwo-Olu), you have Tinubu from Iragbiji, Osun State and you have most of all these people talking and they are not even indigenes of Lagos. My pedigree goes back to over 200 years without controversy. I can bring receipts for four generations.

“So, it’s just petty. Although it is better, because they have nothing else to bring out for me, they cannot say I am a former drug lord or I am drug addict or I have mental health problems. So, I have shown you guys just three.”

On Obi

Rhodes-Vivour said, “The (LP) Presidential Candidate is my hero. You can call me Peter Junior, I respect his principles; I respect that he has made love and emotion a part of our politics again; I respect the fact that he’s so hardworking and I respect the fact that he’s so courageous to create a new type of politics.

“Can you imagine what it takes for presidential candidate to say that “we no dey give shishi” and persistently stick to that?  Presidential candidate that will always go out to go and meet the people, he does not turn down opportunity to engage with the people while we have other presidential candidates that were running away from debates.

“So, he is a role model, he’s someone that I look up to and I am proud to be associated with him,” Gbadebo said.

On threat by ruling party’s supporters

“Nothing is going to happen, come out and vote. You see, that last time they deceived us; all security patrols, the Chairman of INEC saying that he was going to have electronic transmission. We have seen their hand. Come out and vote, this will be a completely different experience, I assure you of that,” the Lagos LP Governorship Candidate said.
