The assailants swooped on them and shot Adeniji in the head at close range.

While his companions managed to escape, Adeniji’s headshot killed him immediately.

The DEFENDER’s enquiry to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamen Hundeyin, for confirmation and details of Police effort at getting to the root of the matter was yet to be responded to as at the time of filing this report.

A police source, who spoke picked our call same Wednesday night, declined to talk saying, “It is the PPRO’s place to talk about such matters”.

A media report, however, said the Area G Command Ogba in Lagos have since cordoned off the area and currently investigating the matter.

Whether or not his killing has connection with political violence is a matter that only the police can tell after its investigation.

Many sympathisers, who have spoken about the murder, not only condemned it but also called on the security agencies not to allow the perpetrators go unpunished.
