Voter registration: Obiano declares 2-day public holiday

Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has declared Monday and Tuesday next week as public holiday to enable civil and public servants in the state participate in the on-going voter registration exercise across the country.
Obiano who made the announcement at the workers’ day celebration in Awka, said the work free days have become necessary to ensure early readiness of the electorate ahead of the forth-coming governorship election in the state.

He also advised those who registered but their names were not captured on the voter register to regularise their names in the register while those who have never registered before to take advantage of the two days to  ensure they are registered.

The governor also asked those who relocated from other parts of the nation to the state to visit the INEC local Government offices nearest to them where they will be directed on steps to follow to transfer their voting rights to the state to enable them participate in the coming and subsequent elections.
While assuring a free, fair and credible poll, Obiano urged the workers to provide guidance to their younger ones, particularly those who just turned eighteen years from the period of the last voter registration and are eligible to vote in the exercise.
