VIDEO: We’ll defeat forces of evil, President Buhari assures on condolence visit in Sokoto

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured the people of Sokoto State and entire Nigerians that the current security situation in the country is a time that will pass away as, according to him, he has in his plan to leave a safe and secured country, when he will be completing his tenure next year.
He said this while paying homage to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, in his palace while on condolence visit to sympathise with Sultanate, government and people of Sokoto State, over their recent experiences of banditry in Eastern part of the state, on Thursday 27 January, 2022.
President Buhari, who was accompanied to the Sultan’s Palace by his host and Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, noted the cases of bandit terrorism, just like it is in other part of the North West.
He, however, assured the Sultan, who is also a retired Army General, that his administration plans to leave a safe and secure society when he will be ready to go.
Giving the assurances while speaking further, President Muhammadu Buhari directed the nation’s Armed Forces and other security services to deal decisively with any person or group undermining efforts at achieving sustainable peace, security and stability in the country, assuring that the country will ultimately defeat the forces of evil..
He said, “I gave them specific orders not to spare any bandit or terrorist threatening the lives and property of innocent Nigerians.”
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, sent to The DEFENDER, the President, who commiserated with the government and people of Sokoto over the recent loss of lives and property as a result of outrageous attacks by bandits and other criminal gangs, assured the people that he remains unrelenting in his resolve to put an end to heinous criminal activities in the state and other parts of the country.
The President wrote in the visitors’ register: “My condolences to the Sultanate, the Government, and people of Sokoto State over the recent mindless killings by bandits and terrorists.
“Nigeria shall win the battle over evil.”
The President told the monarch that he was in the Seat of Caliphate to pay condolence visit to him, the governor and people of the state over the recent sad events, and also to commission development, particularly the BUA’s three million metric tonnes per annum Line 4 Sokoto Cement Plant. He then called for traditional rulers’ continued support for his administration to succeed.
Responding, the Sultan commended the President on efforts on governance and assured him that his traditional leadership would continue to give him the necessary support he requires to succeed, even as he prayed for him and other leaders of state to succeed.
The Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and the Sultan thanked the President for the show of sympathy assuring him of continued support towards peace and stability in the country.
