Nigeria confirms first Omicron COVID-19 variant cases

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Wednesday confirmed the first two cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in the country.
In a press statement issued by the centre and signed by the Director-General, Dr Ifedayo Adetifa.
“The two cases of Omicron variant were identified among travellers from South Africa who arrived Nigeria last week”.
The NCDC however added that the two patients were asymptomatic and contact tracing had begun.
Nigerians have been advised to strictly adhere to public health measures. Ensure the use of face mask in public places, washing of hands and use of sanitizers and social distancing.
