Plateau govt enforces new time for curfew

Governor of Plateau State, Sir Simon Lalong, has announced new time for curfew in the crisis ridden Jos North and Jos South.
Governor Lalong made this announcement on the state owned media, Plateau Radio Television and Peace FM Radio, on Monday.
The curfew was imposed on some local government areas following threat to lives and properties, in order to enable security agencies handle the situation.
The governor relaxed the 24 hours curfew imposed on Jos North and South Local Government areas with effect from August 30, 2021.
Sir Lalong said: “The new curfew in Jos North shall be enforced from 6pm to 6am until further notice.
“The new curfew in Jos South and Vassals shall be enforced between 10pm to 6am,” he said.
The governor expressed sadness over security situation in the state, saying, “Despite the directives to security agencies to stop the attacks, arrest perpetrators and bring them to Justice, these attacks continue with the incident in Rukuba road where commuters where attacked leading to further deaths and destruction.”
He commiserated with the people of the state especially the families of those who lost loved ones and properties during the attacks.
Sir Lalong promised that the government would handle medical bills of those receiving treatment in various health facilities.
He urged residents to embrace religious tolerance and mutual respect for peaceful co-existence in the state, and warned against the use of the social media in spreading false information.
