The council, in a statement on Monday by its Director of Administration Ustaz Christian Isa Okonkwo, expressed gratitude to Allah on the safe return of the President.

“The council commends the passion displayed by Nigerians in their prayers throughout the period of the President’s medical leave and on his safe arrival to Nigeria. The council sees that as a real display of utmost patriotism and high sense of humaneness.

“We also commend the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on the high sense of leadership responsibility and wisdom he used in piloting the affairs of the country as the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the absence of the President,” Okonkwo said.

He prayed Allah to bestow sound health, wisdom, strength, and leadership prowess on the President to be able to drive the course of the country successfully.

He also urged Nigerians to continue to be prayerful, law abiding and promote the spirit of peaceful co-existence among one another, adding that “it is believed that, with peace and unity, we would surely attain our desired growth and development.”

Earlier in his Palace in Sokoto last Thursday during the visit of Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as Acting President in Buhari’s absence, President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, had seized the occasion of the visit to pray for the safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari to come back and continue the good work of fixing the country that he had started.

The Sultan did that just as he also seized the occasion to, by the mouth of Mr. Segun Awolowo, pray for Osinbajo as he on day before clocked 60.

It would be recalled that the Sultan also on February 12 led a congregational praying session in Osogbo, Osun State capital, during the reception and prayer for Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari, organised in honour of the Sultan’s Deputy President-General (South), Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Sakariyau Olayiwola Babalola.
