Obaseki’s APC camp embraced in Edo, as Ize-Iyamu reaches out for survival, Oshiomhole backpedals, says “I accept NWC dissolution in good fate’

A massive shake up is imminent in the campaign Organization of Pastor Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, Candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the September 19, 2020 Governorship election in Edo State, a newspaper report has revealed.

Attention has gradually shifted from the camp of the self-acclaimed Edo Peoples Movement (EPM), Col. David Imuse (Rted) to the Anselm Ojezua, following Bar. Anselm Ojezua’s affirmation by the court as the authentic Chairman of APC in Edo State.

The move is in compliance with the mandate of APC National Executive Council (NEC) on Thursday, which ordered Ize-Iyamu to fuse his campaign under Ojezua’s leadership, according to a dependable source.

The source who was privy to a meeting that was held last night at the residence of one of the staunch supporters of Ize-Iyamu, said the APC had concluded plans to restructure his campaign team and trim the support staff, particularly those that were recommended by the former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

It will be recalled that Ize-Iyamu had said in a widely publicised report that he did not need an Oshiomhole to win election.

If Oshiomhole supporters, who are largely non-voters in Edo, were accusing Obaseki for “betrayal”, they may not have seen the end of the game. Clearly, however, it is emerging daily that the the loser of this anti-Obaseki war is Oshiomhole as even his mentor he allegedly worked for, in Lagos, has since moved on.

According to the media report, a dependable source, who was privy to one of the APC candidate meetings, said they called for overhaul of the campaign structure to incorporate other campaigners from Ojezua and others outside the ones that were recommended by the former National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole.

Following the recent court decision which affirmed “Aselm Ojezua as the authentic Chairman of Edo State APC, Oshiomhole’s loyalists and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu have started wooing Ojezua ahead of the election to avert dire consequences”, according to the source who craved for anonymity.

The source revealed that politicians who attended the meeting expressly gave a clean bill of health to Bar. Ojezua to make input and recommend members of POI campaign team in order to make a whole.

But, some members of Osagie Ize-Iyamu campaign Organization has faulted the move by the National leadership of NEC, amidst fears that it will cause conflict of interest between Oshiomhole and Ize-Iyamu’s loyalists in APC and dismissal.

In the meantime, the immediate past National Chairman of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, may have seen through the whole troubles as he finally said he has accepted the decision of the National Executive Committee (NEC) in good faith. Case closed, a source said.
