Tinubu meets Buhari in State House Abuja
National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari met in Abuja on Tuesday in a closed door meeting.
Although details of reason for the meeting were unknown, sources said it held as part of President Buhari’s response to popular calls telling him that the magic to save the party that had collapsed into crisis barely four years of winning power resides in him.
It will be recalled that the APC was in shambles losing vital strongholds like Zamfara, Oyo states as well as the rights to field candidates for elections in Rivers State in the 2019 general elections due the lingering crisis which was obviously caused by what observers blamed on self-centered and personal ambitions off political actors in the party.
The problem however started fading off when the President took the bull by the horns, presiding over a National caucus meeting during which he ordered the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) to call for National Executive Council meeting to address the issues militating against the party’s progress.
It was at the NEC meeting that President Buhari warned that leaders and members of the APC would be held responsible, if Nigeria failed to sustain its fight against corruption, national rebuild project and fullfil other promises it made to Nigerians.
To avoid this happening, the NEC meeting resolved to recall all suspended members and choose the part of reconcilation, furtherance to which, we gathered, the meeting with Tinubu held my President Buhari on Tuesday.
