Refuse takes over Akure, Ondo State capital

The level of refuse dumps in streets of Akure, Ondo State capital is deplorable.

Our source in the ancient city said the refuse situation in Akure is worrisome as odour around areas of the dumps now becoming unbearable.

“The level of refuse littering the streets of Akure is becoming worrisome.

The odour around this areas is becoming unbearable.

“The Government through the Ministry of Environment should kindly step in to save the situation.

“The Ministry of Health should also be bothered about the likely effect of this refuse.

“We are still fighting Lassa fever in Ondo State and Akure is not exempted from this challenge. We can’t afford to do things that could increase the vulnerability of the State Capital.  Cleanliness is next to Godliness,” he said.

The agency concerned with environmental issues could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
