Saraki-Must-Go: Leadership change imminent at NASS, Nigerians renew calls for Saraki, Dogara to quit, as Akpabio says, “You are minority, resign now”

“Yes, they couldn’t talk because they are minority leaders. They are not even supposed to talk in the first place. They should therefore do the needful and resign honourably or face being booted out of office,” Akpabio told journalists.

The legislative rascality displayed by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers, now alleged to be ostensibly orchestrated by Bukola Saraki/Yakubu Dogara leadership of the Eight National Assembly in collaboration with their party, may have ended; its after-effect has continued to linger with calls on the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, respectively, “to resign now”.

Many of the people involved in the renewed Saraki/Dogara-Must-Go campaign used Wednesday misbehavior of opposition lawmakers as yardstick to back why their must be leadership change in the legislative chambers with immediate effect.

This came as a particular source reminded Saraki and Dogara that, “If you make change impossible, you will be blown away by wind of change itself.”

This time the interests against the two leaders of the legislative chambers believe that their continued stay in offices as number three/four citizens will be inimical to train of change regime which is now on the high speed to fix Nigeria from the damages their party, PDP, caused in 16 years during the era of much spending with nothing to show.

They are surprised that Saraki and Dogara could push national interest aside and placed self and partisan interests above collective concern thereby playing politics with 2019 budget that requires collective responsibility of all regardless of party affiliations.

“It was exactly what they noted happen when Saraki and Dogara watched without caution while their party members in the houses booed President Buhari in attempt to disrupt his presentation of the documents that are supposed to be economic planning for the next fiscal year on Wednesday.

Among Nigerians involved in the renewed call for Saraki-Must-Go is former Governor of Akwa Ibom and currently senate member from the state, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio who called on the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and House of Reps. Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, to resign now.

Briefing newsmen at the National Assembly complex shortly after the rowdy budget presentation, Akpabio described the presiding officers as minority leaders who should do the needful and resign.

“Yes, they couldn’t talk because they are minority leaders. They are not even supposed to talk in the first place. They should therefore do the needful and resign honourably or face being booted out of office,” Akpabio told journalists.

Akpabio, a former Senate Minority Leader, who some months back defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said the presiding officers are undeserving of their positions.

Recall that Buhari a while ago presented the N8.8 trillion 2019 budget proposal before a joint session of the National Assembly amidst tensions.

The rowdy session saw APC and PDP lawmakers locked in shouting match at the House of Representatives venue of the presentation.
