We can’t say because we are PDP states distance ourselves from development, South East Governors explain meeting with Buhari
Reason for the Wednesday’s meeting of South East Governors and Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu with President Muhammadu Buhari has been given.
This was given by Chairman of the South East Governors’ Forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, who said, against the insinuation that his members met with the President to campaign for his re-election, that it was basically to acknowledge the progress of work ongoing in the South East region and appeal to the President to help in completing the projects.
Umahi said they met with the President to seek 50 percent release of the contract sum to the firm working on Second Niger Bridge for actualization of the project.
He told journalists Thursday, “So, South East would not say because they are predominantly PDP, they should shy away from development from the federal government to them, to me, that is stupidity, we are not campaigning for anybody, but we want to say that the problem of south east is beyond partisan politics.
“Any party that wants to take southeast must be very serious with southeast and southeast will take that party very serious.”
