PDP Aspirants refuse to believe Wike’s claim of APC-sponsored candidates

*As Governor, party fail APC’s challenge

Close to 60 days after the All Progressives Congress (APC) challenged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to name one candidate it claimed was sponsored by it as presidential aspirant within the opposition party, there has not been cogent reply proving the PDP’s allegation.

The PDP and Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, have engaged in churning out this allegation.

Wike had earlier claimed that he had intelligence reports that the opposition party has planted aspirants in the PDP to disorganise the party.

While the party is now silent on it, Wike continues yet without providing the name of one sponsored candidate as demanded by the ruling APC.

In the meatime, two of the PDP’s presidential aspirants, Ibrahim Dankwambo and Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, have disagreed with Governor Wike’s claim that ruling party, APC is sponsoring some presidential aspirants in the opposition PDP.

Dankwambo, who is the governor of Gombe state and presidential aspirant on the platform of the PDP, said he has no knowledge of such sponsorship by the APC.

Dankwambo, through his campaign spokesperson, Ayoade Adewopo, said, “We have no direct knowledge of such sponsorship amongst the aspirants in PDP.

Each aspirant under the flagship of PDP is qualified to run in his own right.

Sola Atere, the director of media in Tanimu’s campaign also said his team can neither confirm nor deny the governor’s allegation.

Atere said: “For us at the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki Presidential Campaign Organization, we can neither confirm nor deny His Excellency’s allegation because we are not privy to whatever information that he has at his disposal and even the source of his information.”
