APC in huge response to rebel “R-APC” floors nPDP, says “No faction in APC”
The All Progressives Congress (APC), like the cat with many lives, has again come of a new challenged posed to it by nPDP members who Wednesday thought they had stoked a crisis that would finally consume the governing Party.
The governing Party, under 24 hours, surmounted the challenge declaring that the “There is no faction in APC”.
Although Mr. Saraki has continued to disguise as if he does not know anything about the crisis, his satisfaction with dumping of APC by his Chief of Staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, without him also dumping his job as aide to the APC Senate President, has been held on to by notable politicians as evidence that will in no distant time consume Saraki himself.
The APC, in coming out of the challenge on Thursday, said those disgruntled elements who formed “R-APC” on Wednesday had resorted to forming such a purported rebel group having failed to scuttle the National Convention as was their original plan.
It was exactly some respondents of The DEFENDER, who had called on the leadership of the APC and its Federal Government not to fall for the whims and caprices of the R-APC saying it was no more than nPDP.
They said that aggrieved person in the nPDP is only Saraki who only used the rest as footing to back up himself to be able to dump APC without relinquishing his position as Senate President and therefore urged the party and President Buhari to watch well before they talk with them (the rebels) who are now as good as defected from APC.
In a statement on Thursday signed by National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, copy of which was sent to The DEFENDER, the APC said:
“On Wednesday July 4, 2018, a group of individuals announced itself as ‘Reformed All Progressives Congress (APC)’ at a press conference held in Abuja. By their actions, this group has attempted to create the impression that our Party is factionalised. This is not true.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) wishes to affirm that there is no faction in our Party and declares the action by these individuals as mischievous and ill-advised.
“Having failed to scuttle the National Convention as was their original plan, they now resort to this subterfuge as a way of achieving the pre-determined end of causing confusion.
“As a matter of fact, we doubt that these individuals parading as leaders of the so called faction are actual members of our Party. We are currently investigating their true membership status within the Party.
“While we shall continue to monitor developments in this respect; we will not hesitate to take lawful actions to defend the unity of our Party and protect the sanctity of its identity. We are currently reviewing the action of this so-called faction in order to determine if any aspect of the Party’s constitution has been breached with the connivance of any of our members.
“For those members who have genuine grievances, we want to assure them of the commitment of the new leadership of the party to address those grievances as quickly as possible in a manner that ensures that justice is done to all.” The APC said.
