Dino Melaye surrenders self after hours of security siege, detained
Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West Senatorial District has been detained at the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of Nigeria Police Guzape Abuja after his in on Tuesday.
Melaye had announced on his Twitter handle his readiness to appear before the police after protracted hide and seek game between him and the police who laid siege on his house on Monday.
He was said to have come out of his house and was accompanied by armed policemen who have been keeping vigil on the house to the SARS office where he is now being detained.
It was gathered that he went in company of few of his aides. As at time of this story police are still at the premises of his house.
It is not clear if Melaye will be taken to Lokoja in Kogi State to face his trial which was brought against him by the police.
The DEFENDER reports that Dino Melaye, by the latest development, has become the first tough Nigerian Senator to be arrested on the ground of criminal allegation since the beginning of the ongoing 8th Assembly.
