2019: Buhari, APC govs meet in Daura
President Muhammadu Buhari Friday met behind closed doors with state governors under the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his hometown, Daura, in Katsina State.
The governors, who arrived Katsina in four chartered planes, moved to Daura by road. Buhari had arrived a day earlier.
Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Director General of the Buhari Campaign Organization and Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai also attended the meeting, which Daily Trust gathered was not unconnected to the 2019 general elections.
The meeting lasted over two hours and there was no official communication thereafter as the governors immediately returned to the Katsina airport to leave.
The governors present include Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara, Abdulfatai Ahmed of Kwara, Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Yahaya Bello of Kogi State. Others are Kashim Shetiima of Borno, Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa, Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo, Sani Bello of Niger, Godwin Obaseki of Edo and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State. The governors of Benue, Ogun and Lagos were represented by their deputies.
Four planes conveying the governors and their aides landed intermittently at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua International Airport, where they were received by their Katsina counterpart, Governor Aminu Masari.
