Killings in North-Central: Nigerian Army starts “Operation Cat Race” in North Central
The military exercise code-named, “Operation Cat Race” planned by the Nigerian Army fro the North Central zone of the country will this week commence to tackle the issue of farmers/herdsmen crisis.
This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, in a video he released after the weekly security meeting which was chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday.
Adesina in the video said, “The Security Council meeting has just been concluded chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari and all the security chiefs in attendance.
“Of course, the issues that came under discussion include the farmers/herdsmen crises in different parts of the country. Cattle rustling, arm banditry, anything that constitutes security challenge was discussed and the intention was to tackle all these issues in different parts of the country.
“The exercise by the Nigerian Army called Operation Cat Race has been announced and it takes off later this week in the North Central zone. It is expected that this will bring under control to a large extent the issues of farmers and herdsmen crisis and other ancillary security challenges in that zone.
“This once again has confirmed the fact that President Buhari is not just sitting pretty to quote him in an air-conditioned office and air-conditioned home and doing nothing about the security challenges, he is up and doing about it.”
