LAGOS 2027: Rhodes-Vivour promises alternative pathway for street thugs, if elected governor
By KEMI KASUMU
The Lagos State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, on Thursday October 1, 2026, pledged to address street thuggery by creating alternative opportunities for those involved to become productive members of society.
Rhodes-Vivour made the pledge during The Platform Townhall programme held to provide political parties’ governorship candidates in Lagos State the opportunity to discuss their plans for the state in 3027, if elected.
Rhodes-Vivour said his administration, if elected, would seek to take thugs off the streets by providing them with the opportunities to contribute positively to society rather than remain involved in street violence and other forms of criminality.
“We are going to take thugs off the streets [in Lagos] by giving them a different pathway to become productive members of the society,” he said.
The ADC candidate did not provide further details during the programme on the specific programmes or interventions his proposed administration would introduce to achieve the objective.
His comments come as political parties and candidates intensify preparations for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election, with issues including security, employment, economic opportunities and governance featuring prominently in campaign discussions.
