The immediate past Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Manir Dan-Iya, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections in the state.
Dan-Iya clinched the party’s ticket after winning the ADC governorship primary election conducted across the 244 wards in the state’s 23 local government areas.

“Consequently, I hereby declare you as the ADC candidate for the 2027 general elections,” Illela stated during the announcement of the results.
In his acceptance speech, Dan-Iya expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify the mandate.
He also voiced confidence that the ADC would defeat the ruling party in the 2027 elections, urging members to remain united and committed ahead of the polls.
Dan-Iya further acknowledged the support of former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, alongside other party leaders and stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, Tambuwal said the ADC remains optimistic about victory in the 2027 elections, adding that the party had created opportunities for young people to contest elective positions.
He called on party members to remain patient, resilient, and dedicated to ensuring the party’s success at the polls.
