2027: Fearless youths, women, others take protest to INEC office in Lagos

A protest involving more than 200 participants took place in Lagos on Monday, as youths, women, and other concerned individuals marched to demand changes within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and raise concerns about internal party governance.

The demonstrators began their procession at the WAEC Underbridge at approximately 11:45 a.m., moving toward the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) command center on Birrel Avenue in Yaba. The march, which covered a distance of over one kilometer, remained peaceful throughout.

Protesters chanted slogans and called for the removal of a party figure identified as Amupitan, while also demanding the recognition of David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary of the ADC.

The demonstration saw participation from several political aspirants, with reports  that about 10 aspirants joined the march in solidarity. Observers noted that their preseindicatingnce signaled broader support for the protesters’ demands within sections of the party.

Media coverage was significant, with multiple outlets, including Channels Television, present at the scene. Social media activity by attendees also amplified the protest’s visibility beyond the immediate location.

Despite the charged atmosphere and strong messaging, the protest remained orderly, with participants maintaining discipline and coordination throughout the march.

Organizers described the demonstration as a statement against perceived injustice and a call to uphold democratic principles within the party. They indicated that further actions may follow as discussions around party leadership continue.
