Iran unveils heavily fortified underground base for fighter jets

Iranian officials say the underground installations are part of a broader strategy to safeguard military capabilities and ensure operational readiness in the event of conflict, particularly amid rising regional tensions.

Iran has unveiled a network of heavily fortified underground air bases designed to house and protect its fighter jets, according to official reports.

The facilities—built deep beneath mountainous terrain—are capable of storing, maintaining, and launching combat aircraft, including fighter jets and drones. One such base, known as “Eagle 44,” is described as large enough to support full-scale air operations while shielding assets from potential airstrikes.

Iranian officials say the underground installations are part of a broader strategy to safeguard military capabilities and ensure operational readiness in the event of conflict, particularly amid rising regional tensions.

The bases are reportedly equipped with hangars, command centers, fuel depots, and weapons systems, allowing aircraft to be armed and deployed from concealed locations.
