‘Enemy plot backfired’: Qalibaf hails 30 days of nationwide rallies in support of Armed Forces
The top parliamentarian also said the enemy thought the war would divide the society and put people in front of each other.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf has lauded the Iranian people for their mass rallies in support of the armed forces defending the country against an illegal act of aggression, saying the anti-Iran plot backfired due to national unity.
He made the remarks in a message released on Sunday, the 30th day of the unprovoked military assault by the US and the Israeli regime that has sparked Iran’s retaliatory operations.
Qalibaf said that he bows to the Iranian nation, who took to the streets over the past 30 days in support of the country’s armed forces and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei.
“The street in the past 30 nights was the manifestation of social power of a nation that does not know failure, remains invincible, and does not tolerate the language of force,” he added.
“The enemy did know that the street itself is a sweeping front of the great nation against history’s criminals. Now, the enemy has realized it [this fact] and is angry and distressed about the street.”
The top parliamentarian also said the enemy thought the war would divide the society and put people in front of each other.
However, he noted, “the great Iranian nation was a body more united than ever with ninety million souls, contrary to what the enemy anticipated. This unity was so brilliant and deep that it removed doubts about defending Iran, thus the enemy’s conspiracy backfired on it.”
The criminal US-Israeli aggression on Iran began on February 28 with airstrikes that assassinated senior Iranian officials and commanders.
The Iranian armed forces have responded by launching almost daily missile and drone operations targeting locations in the Israeli-occupied territories as well as US military bases and assets across the region.
They have also blocked the Strait of Hormuz to oil and gas tankers affiliated with the adversaries and those cooperating with them.
Qalibaf emphasized that the war is currently at its most critical stage, with US President Donald Trump having the operational dream of opening the strategic waterway, which was open before the conflict.
“The enemy, who claimed to have destroyed our air, naval, and missile forces with plans for the collapse of the Islamic Republic, now has the goal of opening the Strait of Hormuz,” he added.
He further said that Trump has been accused of waging an aimless war with no response to the US public opinion.
The US president is incapable of getting the European countries’ support, while the energy market is out of control and food inflation is imminent, Qalibaf said.
The US grandeur has suffered severe blows, he said, citing the downing of its fighter jets and targeting of its aircraft carriers and regional bases.
