FCT POLLS: DSS operative reportedly escapes lynching in Kuje

According to media reports, the incident occurred at the Junior Secondary School, Kayada polling station in Kuje, where a group of more than 50 youths allegedly attacked the officer, accusing him of taking photographs and recording videos of individuals engaged in vote trading.

An operative of the (DSS) narrowly escaped lynching on Saturday at a polling unit in Kuje during the ongoing Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.

According to media reports, the incident occurred at the Junior Secondary School, Kayada polling station in Kuje, where a group of more than 50 youths allegedly attacked the officer, accusing him of taking photographs and recording videos of individuals engaged in vote trading.

Eyewitnesses said the operative was manhandled for over five minutes as the youths confronted him. The situation reportedly escalated quickly, with no security personnel present at the scene to intervene during the assault.

The visibly shaken operative was eventually released, although his mobile phone was damaged in the process and his wallet was temporarily seized. He later recovered the wallet but alleged that his accreditation card was confiscated by the youths.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the incident, the DSS operative expressed relief at escaping with his life. He lamented the absence of security support at the polling unit and described the experience as harrowing before leaving the area on a motorcycle.
