By SUMAYYAH ADEFAKA

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory has expressed deep condolences to the families of those killed in the recent Kwara State massacre, while extending solidarity to the people of the state, the government, and the Muslim Ummah affected by the tragedy.

Over 75 people were reportedly killed when gunmen attacked communities in Kaiama Local Government Area, leaving many others injured and destroying homes and farmlands.

In a press statement issued to journalists in Kaduna on Saturday, the chairman of Northern CAN, Rev. Joseph John Hayab, described the attack as brutal and inhumane, mourning with the families of the victims and praying for the restoration of peace in the affected communities.

Northern CAN emphasized that such violence is an affront to human dignity and the values of all Nigerians, regardless of faith.

The association also commended the swift response of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and security agencies following the deployment of an Army battalion to the state to prosecute counter offensives, Codenamed, Operation Savannah Shield.

While expressing sympathy and appreciation, Rev. Hayab urged federal and state authorities to intensify their efforts, strengthen collaboration, implement clear security policies, and adopt decisive measures to prevent further loss of life.

He stressed that the protection of citizens must remain the top priority of those entrusted with leadership.

The association concluded by reaffirming prayers, support, and solidarity with the families of the victims, the people of Kwara State, the government, and all Nigerians affected by insecurity, calling for resilience, unity, and peace in the face of tragedy.
