The Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently constructing 23 different road projects across the North-West region of Nigeria, with works at various stages of completion.

This was disclosed by the Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), Abdullahi Tanko Yakasai, during an inspection tour of the ongoing dualisation of the Funtua–Gusau–Sokoto Road.
Yakasai expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work on the projects, noting that President Tinubu remains committed to the development of not only the North-West but all regions of the country through the execution of critical infrastructure projects.
He explained that the inspection was carried out on behalf of the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, adding that the administration is prioritising road projects that had been abandoned for several years.
According to Yakasai, the renewed focus on road infrastructure in the North-West is aimed at boosting economic activities and improving connectivity across the region.
He commended President Tinubu for approving and funding the projects, particularly those targeted at reviving key transport corridors linking Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto states.
Representatives of construction firms handling the projects, including Setraco, which is executing the Funtua–Gusau Road, and Tri-Acta, responsible for the Gusau–Talata Mafara Road, pledged to complete the projects on schedule. They, however, noted that security challenges in some areas occasionally affect the pace of work.
Conducting the inspection team around the project sites, the Zamfara State Controller of Works, Engr. Kassim Yusuf, said the Ministry of Works is closely monitoring contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and timelines.
Projects inspected during the tour include the dualisation of the Zaria–Funtua–Sokoto Road spanning Kaduna, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto states. Specific sections include Section II, Sheme–Tsafe–Gusau (87 kilometres), and Section III, Gusau to Talata Mafara town (93 kilometres).
The team also commissioned emergency road repairs at the Gidan Dawa area of Gusau, as well as an access road to the Federal Secretariat in Gusau, Zamfara State.
