It would be recalled how Dr. Femi Adesina would issue a press statement not only announcing President Buhari’s destination of vacation abroad but also that, during his vacation he would see his doctor on ETN – Ear, Throat and Nose checks.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his end-of-year break as he departed Lagos on Sunday December 28, 2025 for an undisclosed destination in Europe, heightening criticisms that the president, unlike his predecessor Major General Muhammadu Buhari GCFR RTD, is more of keeping his activities secret despite not being a private but public figure.

The DEFENDER Newspaper reports that in his time, President Muhammadu Buhari would disclose his activities even to those that people expected to be his private affairs: medical check up during his vacation abroad.
It would be recalled how Dr. Femi Adesina would issue a press statement not only announcing President Buhari’s destination of vacation abroad but also that, during his vacation he would see his doctor on ETN – Ear, Throat and Nose checks.
But his successor, President Bola Tinubu, has kept most of his activities abroad unknown to the public of the he swore an oath to rule with all sincerity and in accordance with the dictates of the Constitution.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President Tinubu on Information and Strategy on Sunday, he said the trip was continuation of “his end-of-year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates”.
While the President’s specific European destination was officially withheld, an online newspaper in Nigeria (not The DEFENDER) repeatedly reported that his previous trips to Paris, France capital were, in reality, disguised medical visits.
“His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed AlNahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, has invited President Tinubu to participate in the 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit, which will take place in the emirate early in January,” the statement by Onanuga said.
“The weeklong summit is an annual event that mobilises leaders from government, business, and society to chart the next era of sustainable development.
“With the theme ‘The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go’, ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence,” he said.
According to the statement, the President will return to the country after the Summit.
This global online newspaper sent a WhatsApp enquiry to Bayo Onanuga for clarification on destination of the president’s destination but as at the time of this publication, it was yet be responded to.
