Gusau International Airport ready in February 2026 – Contractors

The Gusau International Airport currently under construction in Zamfara State will be completed and ready for use in February 2026, according to the project engineers.

Engr. Nicholas Khoury, who is in charge of buildings,and Engr. Nicholas Kfoury in charge of runway disclosed this while conducting the Zamfara State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Malam Lawal Barau Bungudu, round the airport facilities during his inspection visit on Tuesday December 3, 2025.

Mr Khoury, who conducted the Commissioner round the buildings, said “the tarmac and control tower are about 80 percent completion while the fire service is about 60 percent completion.”
He assured the Commissioner that the work would be completed on schedule.
While conducting the Commissioner round the 4.5km runway, which currently at about 70 percent completion, Engr. Kfoury assured that all works related to runway would be completed as per the contractual agreement.
Speaking to journalists, who accompanied him on the visit, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the quality of work and commended the contractors handling the projects.
He assured that Zamfara State government would give all the necessary support and cooperation towards the completion of the airport.
Commissioner Bungudu said, “The airport, when fully operational, would boost the socio-economic well being of the people of the state”, even as he expressed confidence in Governor Dauda Lawal to transform Zamfara into a greater height.
The Commissioner, who also inspected the ongoing township roads in Gusau metropolis, had with him on the inspection visit the directors of the ministry, according to Our State Correspondent.
