In a heartfelt note, Adelaja described Adefaka as a rare gem and a strong pillar whose encouragement rekindled her hope during a difficult transition in her career.

“I resigned from Vanguard on December 19, 2022, without any clear direction or assurance of what would come next,” she recalled. “But today, you have proved that Almighty God is not a man and that nobody can stop His doings. Though I have not reached my destination, there is a green light.”

Adelaja expressed gratitude to Adefaka for his role in christening Citizens Compass at its launch in April 2021, saying his presence and blessings marked a turning point in her professional journey.

“Today, the happenings around portend hope unlike four years ago,” she wrote.

“This portrait is a token from Citizens Compass to say thank you. Your likes are rare. Thanks for being there,” the Nigerian woman journalist said in her appreciation message sent to The DEFENDER Newspaper publisher on Wednesday.

Presenting a framed portrait to Adefaka as a symbol of appreciation, Adelaja said the gesture was from her “baby”—Citizens Compass—to honour a mentor whose impact continues to inspire her growth and resilience.

Her message, filled with warmth and gratitude, reflects the bond of respect and mentorship that continues to nurture the spirit of journalism and mutual support within Nigeria’s media community.
