Sultan of Sokoto Caliphate arrives Lagos ahead monarchs’ meeting

The Sultan of Sokoto Caliphate, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has arrived Lagos State ahead a meeting of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria (NTRCN).

The visit, which started from Sunday October 12, 2025, will keep him the monarchs’ chairman in the Centre of Excellence until Tuesday October 14, 2025.
Accompanied by Sarkin Kilgori and Senior Counsellor Sultan Council, Sokoto, Dr. Muhammad Jabi Kilgori, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar, whose plane touched down around 2:36 p.m. at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Ikeja, was received by state officials and Deputy President-General (South) of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Rasaki Olatejo.
Others, who joined in receiving the Sultan at the Lagos airport Sunday, included the Vice Chairman of MUSWEN, Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, National Missional of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheikh AbdulRahman Ahmad, among others.
The DEFENDER recalls that the Sultan only recently between Thursday September 25 and Saturday September 27, 2025, was in South West for the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan Land,which took place at the popular Mapo Hall, Ibadan on Friday September 26, 2025.
On the sidelines of the coronation, the Sultan also visited Ijebu-Ode where he paid his condolences to the royal family of late Awujale of Ijebu Land, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, accompanied by MUSWEN President Rasaki Olatejo and Sarkin Kilgori and Senior Counsellor Sultan Council, Sokoto, His Royal Highness Dr. Muhammad Jabi Kilgori, was received by eldest son of the deceived, Prince Saud Ade Adetona, supported by Regent of Awujale, Dr. Olorogun Sonny Folorunsho Kuku, and Olori Omo Oba of Ijebu Land, Dr. Kunle Hassan.
