El-Rufai visits Emir of Kano, tells journalists something about SDP, APC, PDP {SEE DETAILS}

A chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mallam Dr. Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, on Monday April 28, 2025, visited the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, at his palace in Kano State.
The visit was confirmed by the Emir of Kano’s Palace via a verified Facebook page saying, “His Highness Khalifa Dr. Muhammad Sanusi II PhD CON Sarkin Kano received HE Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-rufai, former Governor of Kaduna State, and his entourage today, Monday, 28th April 2025, on a private visit to his palace.”
Details of his message to the Emir was unknown but it was believed that his visiting Kano, Nigeria’s most volatile city and political headquarters, further proves his popularity that is now spreading like wildfire across Northern Nigeria.
However, he told journalists after the visit that Nigeria urgently requires a trustworthy political alternative to save the country.
The former governor explained that godfatherism and dysfunction had ruined both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
El-Rufai also disclosed that he had joined SDP to help create a credible political alternative free from godfatherism.
According to him, “Kano is critical of any serious political formation because of its consistently high voter turnout. After joining the SDP, it was important to come and engage with stakeholders here.
“Twelve years ago, we merged three major parties to form the APC and defeated an incumbent president. But now, the goal is different. We are bringing together disaffected members across political divides under an existing platform, the SDP, which we believe has the best pedigree and potential.
“We have seen how godfatherism destroyed the PDP and is now wreaking the APC. Nigerians deserve a party built on fairness, internal democracy, and equal opportunity; the SDP can be that alternative.”
The DEFENDER recalls that Dapo Sowunmi of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had recently revealed what could become the end result for taking El-Rufai for granted as he said the former governor is the man he sees at the top echelon of political arena especially in Northern Nigeria after former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“You can take anybody you like for granted. But you cannot take a disruptor like Nasir for granted. How do you think Nasir is happy trying to destroy a government he helped bring about? He can never be,” he said.
