Sultan directs Muslims to search for new moon of Sha’aban Wednesday

The leadership of Muslims Ummah of Nigeria, under Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, CFR, mni, has directed that members of the religious community should search for the new moon of Sha’abah 1446 AH after sunset of Wednesday January 29, 2025.

Making this known was Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu, Wazirin Sokoto and Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Sultanate Council, Sokoto, in a statement dated 28^th January, 2025 and copy of which was obtained by The DEFENDER.

The statement said, “This is to inform the Muslim Ummah that, Wednesday 29^th January, 2025 which is equivalent to 29^th Rajab 1446 AH shall be the day to look for the new moon of Sha’aban 1446 AH.

“Muslims are therefore requested to start look for the new moon of Sha’aban 1446 AH on Wednesday and report its sighting to the nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar CFR, mni, the Sultan of Sokoto.

“May Allah (SWT) help us in the discharge of this religious duty, amen,” the statement said.
