Lawal Maidoki inaugurates SOZECOM’s youth volunteers committee

The Sokoto State Zakat and Endorsement Commission (SOZECOM) has today 4th March 2019 inaugurated Zakat and Endowment Youth Volunteer Committee, ZEYVOC.

Speaking during the inauguration, the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Mallam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, said the rationale behind the initiative was to, among other things, give youth the opportunity to participate actively in Zakat and Waqf activities for rapid advancement of humanitarian services in all its ramifications.

The Commission boss equally maintained that the initiative was meant to instill Zakat and Waqf consciousness in minds of youth folk across eighty six districts of the state.

Zeyvoc, according to Maidoki, is a completely apolitical social system dedicated to serving the needy and less privileged in the society.

The committee is expected in the course of its assignment to collaborate with districts Zakat and Waqf committees, development partners and philanthropists.

The committee has Director Planning of the commission, Murtala Garbs Alkali, as its chairman, Nura Abdullahi Attajiri vice chairman while Malama Habiba Muhammad is to serve as secretary.

According to a release obtained by The DEFENDER via SOZECOM’s WhatsApp platform on Saturday, the committee is saddled with the responsibility for drawing up action plans for ZEYVOC’s successful take off.

The Zakat and Waqf initiative is one of the means by which Sultan of Sokoto and Amirul Mu’mineen of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, enforce social responsibilities to members of Sokoto State community in category deserving of it.

This is however done in collaboration with the Sokoto State Government.
