The DEFENDER reports that the statement reiterates that House of Representatives primary election will be held on Friday May 15, 2026, while the Senate primary election holds on Monday May 18, 2026.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has just released a statement dismissing reports claiming that it had altered the timetable for its 2027 primary elections and insisting that the dates already announced remain unchanged.
The ruling political party made this reaction in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and posted on the APC’s official platform night of Wednesday May 23, 2026.
The DEFENDER reports the statement reiterated that House of Representatives primary election will be held on Friday May 15, 2026, while the Senate primary election holds on Monday May 18, 2026.
The party also stated that the State House of Assembly primary election will take place on Wednesday May 20, 2026, followed by the governorship primary on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
According to the statement, the presidential primary election remains fixed for Saturday May 23, 2026.
“This clarification has become necessary following the circulation of false and misleading reports on social media and other communication platforms suggesting otherwise,” said the AOC’s National Publicity Secretary.
The APC urged members and the public to disregard unofficial reports regarding the party’s electoral timetable.
