2023: Kashim Shettima receives Ezeife, brings Buhari’s nephew back to APC

The Vice Presidential Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 election, Senator Kashim Shettima on Monday received Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, at his residence in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Shettima disclosed this in his Facebook page on Wednesday but without details of what the visit by the former Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President during the administration of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was about.

The DEFENDER, however, gathered that the visit was not only political but also in connection with 2023 election.

“On Monday, I received Fmr Governor of Anambra State, H.E Chukwuemeka Ezeife who paid a courtesy visit to in Abuja.Thank you for the visit Sir,” Shettima said.

Same day of Ezeife’s visit, on Monday August 29, Shettima, a former two-term Governor of Borno State, had also met with Hon. Fatuhu Muhammed, President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew celebrated by opposition’s supporters recently as having dumped the ruling party for the PDP.

Although venue of Fatuhu’s meeting with Shettima was not stated, the APC vice presidential candidate announced that the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency of Katsina State representative, after the meeting, rescinded his decision to leave the APC.

“In our efforts towards peacebuilding and uniting the members of our party, l met with Honourable Fatuhu Muhammed, who had previously announced his defection from our party.

“Hon. Fatuhu, who represent Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency of Katsina state, is a critical stakeholder of the APC in the Katsina state.

“After a crucial meeting this evening, Hon. Fatahu has rescinded his earlier decision to leave the party and also restated his commitment to work towards promoting the progressive ideals of our party, especially in this build-up to the elections.

“The meeting was attended by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, and Hon. Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura, a member representing Zango/Baure Federal Constituency and candidate of the Katsina North Senatorial District in the 2023 elections,* Shettima said.
